This tiny Pinot Meunier plot, measuring just 0.382 hectares, was planted in Charly-sur-Marne in 1968. The strength and thus the success lie in the vineyard. In the cellar, you should intervene as little as possible so that the wine brings as much terroir as possible into our glasses. Christophe's goal is balanced wines, wines whose body and acidity are in harmony, because only in this way can you do without a dosage. However, countless other winemakers who follow this trend of dispensing with dosage are not working towards it in the vineyard. And only those who do a perfect job in the vineyard, reduce yields and harvest ripe grapes, will be able to ship their wines without dosage, without having thin, hard, even acidic wines in the bottle. All this cannot happen to them here at Baron, because they are aware of what it takes and they have already made a few great wines. Alouette smells wonderfully fruity, sometimes like grapefruit, sometimes like pear, mixed with mineral components and all this is playfully wrapped in a wonderful scent of dried flowers. This Pinot Meunier is powerful and full of energy on the palate, developing pressure, flowing smoothly and opening up its almost creamy core in the finale. This is a great Pinot Meunier!
