You come across a winemaker like Accornero by chance, without looking for him, so it's a real stroke of luck!
No less a figure than Giacomo Bologna's (father of Bricco del Uccelone) brother Carolo recommended Giulin to us for lunch back then. Blown away by the wine of a winemaker whose name I had never heard or read before, it was sensational!
That same afternoon, I called the Accornero family and the next day I was standing in their cellar, where I was able to taste one great wine after another. Amazing! WHAT A DISCOVERY, back then. Today, Patrizia and Ermanno are part of the Barbera and Grignolino nobility for me and a small circle of insiders. Why these wines have not long since ended up on the table of every Piedmont lover who can do without Nebbiolo is a mystery to me every time we have an Accornero wine in our glass!
We invite you to do the same, to discover wines that not only carry Piedmont in their DNA, but also, like their producers, passion and everything that Barbera and Grignolino have to offer, to woo you with the sole aim of putting a smile on your face.
Have a go, it won't hurt your palate or your nose, and it certainly won't cost you a pretty penny.
