“Frigyes Bott, natural wine winemaker from Slovakia, that would be something for us,” said Martin Lunter, who himself comes from Slovakia. The guy, Frigyes, makes sensational wines, fresh, precise and clean.
I looked at Martin in disbelief over my glasses, which had slid forward. ”Really? I mean, seriously? Natural wines from Slovakia?” ‘Yes, sure,’ Martin said enthusiastically, ”this is really good stuff, not the yellow slop that you usually see with natural wines today.”
Bott and his family were touring France, visiting their role model, our Richard Leroy. Somehow the two must have mentioned us, so that the people from Slovakia included a stop at our place on their way home.
So there they were, the Bott family, in our shop, pleasant people. In our intensive discussions, we could literally feel their energy and commitment, and it turned out that our ideas of the perfect natural wine were one hundred percent aligned.
Of course, the wines confirmed this in the tasting. These wines are really hot, totally spicy, so we highly recommend them to you today.
Do as we do and try these great wines, discover unknown flavors – due to the grape varieties – have a sophisticated conversation with Furmint, Háslevelü, Juhfark and Blaufränkisch (genetic material of the Triebaumers from the Mariental vineyard, by the way)!
Sincerely
Carl J. Studer and his gang
