CHAMPAGNE ROSES DE JEANNE

Warning: this text could permanently damage your opinion of mass-produced champagnes from the big names such as Pommery, Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon and all those other soulless companies!

Have you ever wondered how these large companies produce their wines, or how ripe their grapes can possibly be given a yield of 15,500 kilograms per hectare, whilst quality-conscious winemakers harvest barely more than 6,000 kilograms from the same surface area? Just how must these companies be maltreating their grapes and wines in the cellars to turn them into a halfway drinkable fizzy concoction – one which, however, I can only recommend for award ceremonies, and even then only if safety goggles are worn. Unimaginable!

Salvation is at hand in the form of artisanal champagnes, which, thankfully, are attracting ever more attention and are of a quality that the major houses are only capable of delivering for their overpriced prestige cuvées.

The undisputed superstar of this artisanal champagne scene is Cédric Bouchard, who, together with his wife Emilie, produces unique wines of unrivalled quality. I am not alone in this opinion; it is shared by the world’s two most knowledgeable Champagne connoisseurs, Antonio Galloni (vinous.com) and Kristaps Karklins (robertparker.com). Both praise the wines from Roses de Jeanne – as the Bouchards call their tiny estate – in every vintage!

Not surprisingly, Emilie and Cédric tend their 2.5 hectares of vines according to Steiner’s principles – that is, biodynamically – yielding barely more than 25 hectolitres per hectare, categorically refusing to add sugar to the must, fermenting spontaneously (without the addition of selected yeasts) and maturing their wines in an aroma-neutral manner, i.e. without contact with wood. It goes without saying that they would never alter their wines with a dosage. Roses de Jeanne stands for unadulterated, unvarnished terroir, for the very best possible quality.

The wines from Roses de Jeanne will open your eyes to uncompromising quality, as well as to an unexpected – and perhaps previously unknown – dimension of champagne, and will delight you at the very highest level, should you be among the lucky few who manage to get hold of a few bottles. This, incidentally, at very reasonable prices – not just compared to the prices of mass-produced sparkling wine, but in absolute terms!

Our offer is for a limited time only and ends on Friday, 10 July 2026. We will be allocating orders as early as next week and will send you your allocation in the form of our invoice. We hope you won’t hold this process against us; it is in no way intended to express any mistrust towards you, but simply to make things easier for both you and us.

We expect to begin deliveries around mid-July 2026, naturally not without coordinating this with you first.

We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible!

Kind regards

Carl J. Studer

P.S.: Due to the limited availability of the ‘UR’ and ‘CE’ wines, we are restricting purchases of each of these two wines to one bottle per household. Thank you for your understanding.
