Pierre Gauthier and his wines are an institution! Bel Air is now a family affair, with all the Gauthiers involved, including Pierre's wife Catherine and their children Rodolphe and Sophie. And that's a good thing, because there's always plenty to do in Bourgueil, the heart of Cabernet Franc country. For me, this is where the best wines are made, magical wines from Cabernet Franc that have so much more to offer than the lush, boring stuff produced from this variety in other countries. Here on the banks of the Loire, wines grow that have something to say, wines that indescribably combine density with weightlessness, structure with finesse, and energy with elegance.
