Henin Romain - Bulle Libre

Henin Romain - Bulle Libre
Henin Romain - Bulle Libre, France - Champagne

Romain started out on a very small scale, cultivating just over a hectare. His wines are phenomenal, a real asset to the Champagne scene and, as such, highly sought-after. Together with his brother Thomas, Romain took over his parents’ domaine in 2022 – today they cultivate just under eight hectares of vineyards. I would describe the Henin brothers’ biodynamic approach as consistently uncompromising. Their wines are matured in small, used – and therefore aroma-neutral – oak barrels. The wines from ‘Bulle Libre’ are free from added sulphur and dosage. Quite right, the name says it all. Producing great wines under the conditions described is not only back-breaking work, but also always a game of chance – or rather, a game with the weather – because only ripe fruit leads to success. .
