My son was absolutely thrilled with the trophies of the sports superstars that they brought along on their visits to Colgin. Impressive admittedly, but my wife and I are more excited about the wines, such as IX Estate, IX Syrah, Cariad and Tychson Hill. Cariad, a wine made mainly from fruit from David Abreu's Madrona Ranch in St. Helena, is fabulously good! I would describe it as Pessac- Leognan like. Fine malt and iodine notes on the nose remind me of the great Haut-Brions of the 80s and 90s. It flows powerfully into the palate, mineral veins marble it, the tannins are present but of the best quality and wrap the muscles and dress the muscleman in an elegant robe. What a great wine!
