Roger and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Chambolle-Musigny Mugnier's with a “Znächtli”. The waiter, or was it the sommelier, in any case he was the owner of this establishment, which is known far beyond France's borders, opened the bottle and placed it on our table with a flourish. Watching the wine develop as it unfolded was exciting and entertaining - we were in no hurry, as we were “passing the time” with a glass of white wine. At the beginning, the aroma of the Chambolle went in a spicy direction and with a little more air contact, an interplay began between orange notes (as if you had just peeled a ripe, juicy Tarocco orange) and a wonderful rose scent and at the end an indescribably delicious raspberry scent lay over everything, through which spice, orange and rose aromas diffused from time to time. What a heavenly fragrance!
Powerful yet elegant, this wine flows through the palate, beating it out with silky tannins that shape and carry the wine and immediately soften when the saliva starts to flow in streams - the wine is incredibly juicy and so super delicious that you can't stop clicking your tongue. This is a real charm bolt!
