IX Estate Syrah Napa Valley

Syrah, that usually means Southern California. I have to admit without envy - as you know, my heart beats for Southern California, for Santa Maria and Santa Barbara - that there are also two winemakers in the north who have what it takes! One is called John Kongsgaard, I'll tell you about him later, and the other is Colgin. A few years ago, the Syrah planting was optimized and this is now bearing fruit. Jeb Dunnuck, a profound connoisseur of the variety and its wines, the Rhône Valley, as well as their counterparts from California, speaks very highly of this wine, even comparing it to Guigal's legendary 2010 La Moulin. A great compliment! Bacon aromas are paired with floral scents and roasted New York steaks. But just behind that are great berry aromas, dark berry aromas and also something spicy, thyme perhaps? Powerful and pure, incomparably elegant, this Syrah moves like a ballerina and finishes juicy and mineral. What a wine! You MUST have this in your cellar!
