Langhe Freisa

They call me Spanna, the Freisa, too. And yes, the Freisa is also at home in Piedmont. But you may never have heard of it, or it may be a long time since you tasted a Freisa. Why is that? Surely only because you didn't have the right Freisa in your glass. Sure, because THIS HERE is THE right Freisa and it's only been around since the 2022 vintage, and unfortunately only in homeopathic quantities. Freisa is dark in color and, to me, smells more spicy than fruity. Well, some dark berry fruit delivers high notes and does play a not insignificant role in this bouquet. The wine fills the palate with density and pressure, creeping into even the smallest folds. Impressive! Suddenly, the wine reveals tannins that were not initially noticeable but are now very present. However, they are never unpleasant, because the tannins are of the highest quality... Imagine running your hand over satin, that's roughly what it feels like: a little scratchy in one direction and as fine as silk in the other. But this sensation only lasts a moment, because soon the Freisa releases an acidity that makes the saliva flow in masses and washes away all those tannins. What remains is an exciting texture. A wine that will bring great joy to the table in so many moments and that you, if you like real, grown and not made wines, will love. More Freisa in our glass!
