Neuchâtel Rouge (Pinot Noir) «Vase N° 2»

It is no secret that terroir is central to Jacques Tatasciore and his great wines. And so it was the enormous potential of his neighbor's terroir, Domaine Ruedin, that prompted him to take over Ruedin in the first quarter of 2019. The task now was to equip the best sites, which very often border the vineyards where Tatasciore's famous Burgundies with illustrious names such as Margiles, Rissieux, Chypre, and Virgas grow, with the right grape varieties.

Massale selection seems to be the universal magic word today. But what does it actually mean? This process involves selecting and propagating the most resistant vines that reliably produce the best fruit. To do this, Jacques has marked his favorite vines with loops and taken scions (wood from the shoots of the plants) in the fall and grafted them onto the existing rootstock of selected vines from the Domaine Ruedin. It's a lot of work, but this investment is well worth it, as you will see.

This wine, Vase N° 2, is a wine that grows in one of the vineyards that Tatasciore has refined. Here, the best terroir and optimal genetic material come together. Jacques has done an excellent job with the first vinification. The wine is slightly denser and more complex than the “conventional” Valentin Pinot Noir and deserves your full attention. You won't get this much Pinot Noir, or rather this much Burgundy, in your glass unless you double your investment. So buy as much as you can, or rather, as long as this wine is available. Because as always, the quantities we have to offer are small, no, in this case even tiny.
