Pinot Noir Mt Pajaro Vineyard

2017

Traubensorten Pinor Noir
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

Mt. Pajaro is Rhys's newest vineyard. All of his experience and knowledge – and that's quite a lot – went into the planning and ultimately the planting. Here, too, Kevin Harvey decided to plant densely. By densely, I mean that working with machines is completely impossible here; everything has to be done by hand, including the soil work. So you see, Rhys spares no expense when it comes to making the perfect wine. Even though the vineyard is still young, the wines grown here are impressive. “Mineral” was my first impression. I don't often use that word, especially when tasting wines from the US. But here, the wine smells like rain falling on warm stones. Dried herbs also mingle with the mineral components, as do cherry notes, lemon blossom, and floral notes. The wine has a powerful presence on the palate, filling it with energy and heralding an elegant finish that is crystal clear and wonderfully harmonious. A brilliant wine, perhaps the best in Rhys' lineup?
