Bourgogne Blanc

In Les Grands Corvées, south-east of the municipality of Chassagne-Montrachet, the vines planted in 1990 grow on light soil. But don't worry, this is not one of those hefty, lush Bourgognes, the wine is far from that. Naturally, the same quality standards apply to the Bourgogne Blanc as to the wines of the famous appellations. Long fermentation and ageing on the fine lees in a cold, damp cellar tickle aromas out of the wine in a way that is very rare, in fact almost unheard of. A fine reduction, yes, that's exactly how it should start, before fine bread aromas combine with the scent of white flowers and aromas of juicy green pears to form a wonderful whole, allowing you to examine the taste and mouthfeel with satisfaction. And yes, the wine delivers here too. The enormous energy balances the muscular body almost perfectly, creating this unique texture that constantly switches between silky, creamy and fresh and crisp. The wine's finish is spectacular, and not just for a Bourgogne Blanc, and could make the blood of many a winemaker who makes wines in better-known appellations freeze in their veins! That's right, this is a really serious, great white Burgundy. It's just a shame that we only have so few bottles to share with you.
