Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard

Hyde, that's right, that's Larry and his son Chris, so they're the owners of the vineyard where the grapes for this insanely delicious Chardonnay grow – which, by the way, is located in an area called Carneros, nestled at the southern end of Napa Valley. That's right, you paid close attention. Larry and Chris also deliver grapes to Mark Aubert and John Kongsgaard, winemakers whose wines you can also purchase from us, if you are quick enough. But that is another story.

Andy Smith has been working with the Hyde family since 2002. Over the years, they have become a team that, as with Kongsgaard and Aubert, has only one goal: to make the perfect wine.

This is a true Hyde, with an expressive bouquet of white flowers, tangerines and a hint of freshly toasted brioche. The wine flows powerfully onto the palate, where at first glance it seems to be all about power, but the moment you draw the conclusion, the wine releases the acid, gets back on its feet and dances elatedly through the palate. The wine has an incredible texture that makes the tongue click over and over again until the moment when everything feels very salty. The finish is – as you would expect – long and outrageously seductive, so seductive that you immediately take another scrutinizing sip, which confirms what you have just experienced, and you can confidently move on to enjoyment. This wine is wonderful!
