Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée

2023

Traubensorten Chardonnay
Trinktemperatur 10° - 12°

High up on the hill, where the humus layer over the rock is only very thin, the afternoons are warm and the nights are cool, the grapes for this fascinating wine grow on vines that were planted back in 1961. It's wonderful how the bouquet of this wine combines not unusual components such as the scent of freshly roasted hazelnuts, tasty yellow fruits and a hint of freshly baked bread with a crusty crust and a touch of freshly torn orange peel zest with unexpected waxy notes to create a great perfume. The wine feels powerful and concentrated at first. But after just two or three seconds, the acidity works its way through the dense body and slowly begins to drive the wine forward, breathing life into it with its incredible energy. The fine tannins and the wonderfully ripe acidity combine to create a hellish mouthfeel that is grippy, but also juicy and wonderfully salty. Simply fascinating! Even if you have never tasted a great wine from La Romanée, that doesn't mean that none grows there. And most people only know Lamy-Caillat from hearsay, although Florence and Sébastian make great, no, unique wines like this one from La Romanée!
