Agreed, when you read Mercurey, you first think of a red wine. But here at Philippe and Guillaume's, it's a white wine that really turned our heads.
The wine grows in a vineyard covering around one and a half hectares, facing northeast. Yesterday this was considered a disadvantage, but today it is a preferred exposure, especially for white wines, particularly if, like us, you prefer fresh and lively wines.
The wine has a delicate yellow hue, signaling that the fruit was wonderfully ripe when it was harvested by hand and carefully placed in small crates for transport to Givry, ensuring that nothing was crushed along the way.
The aroma of the wine is simply wonderful! Yellow fruit with floral notes and a delicate touch, just a hint of butter scotch, ground the bouquet and give it depth. Athletic in build with tense muscles, noticeably charged with enormous energy, the wine moves across the palate and ends wonderfully juicy, mineral, exuding what I find to be an irresistible tonic touch.
This is a real bargain!
