Elio ALTARE, by Silvia Altare

The Altares – Lucia and Elio – are long-standing dear friends, so long-standing that we knew their daughters Silvia and Elena when they were still going to the “asilo”, the kindergarten. Those were the days... great days, just like today!

For a few years now, Silvia has been the woman behind the great wines, guiding the fortunes of the Domaine Altare. Just like her father, Silvia also consistently pursues only one goal: the perfect Nebbiolo. However, with a lot more humor, even a sense of mischief – man, I can tell you, Silvia has it all. If it hadn't worked out with the wine, she would have had the talent to be a brilliant comedian, no kidding!

Silvia presses contemporary wines, genuine Piedmontese wines, wines with rough edges or, to put it another way, wines with character, which show their roots with a refreshing naturalness, wines that are worth searching for, that reward the successful hunter royally and that crown every tavolata – whether large or small.

We cannot imagine anything better than a silky Dolcetto, a fruity Barbera and, on Sundays, a fine Nebbiolo, i.e. a Barolo to go with pasta, with or without “tartuffo”, with roast meat or with chicken.

So, go ahead and enjoy these great, sometimes great wines from the Domaine Altare with us.
