Priolo Manuele

Priolo Manuele
Priolo Manuele, Italy - Piedmont

“You absolutely must meet this bloke,” said Robert Pasquero (San Barnaba), and he made me curious – VERY curious. Manuele lives in a small hamlet that seems to cling to the rocks like a swallow’s nest, to a hill, to a very steep hill – Manuele’s vineyard, which drops steeply down right in front of his house, has a gradient of 35 per cent. An indigenous Nebbiolo, perfectly adapted to the terroir, grows on light, fine blue sand. Manuele tends his vines sustainably; one might say according to Rudolf Steiner’s theory, yet I believe it is biodynamics on steroids. In the cellar, Manuele takes a back seat, letting the terroir speak for itself, and the result is a wine unlike any we have ever tasted.
