Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières

As is so often the case, the winery still bears the names of father and son, in this case Bernard and Thierry, even though Bernard has long since enjoyed his well-deserved retirement. He does give his son a hand now and again, but Thierry is still in charge. That's a good thing, because Thierry's consistently pursued goal, and his modesty gives way, is to make great wines. Like this one. Thierry brought wonderfully ripe fruit into the cellar, which he pressed gently and fermented immediately in the Pièce. Only around 30 percent of the barrels are new. This Les Folatières smells simply divine! It is a mix of citrus fruits and floral aromas, supported by spicy components. The wine flows powerfully into the palate, then unpacks great acidity that suggests lightness, and ends wonderfully mineral, precise to the point! "Top", Cédric would say!
